After writing “The Best Teething Toys to Soothe Babies’ Sore Gums,” I continued my search for the best teethers in the market. So many new teethers have recently come out, and it is so hard to keep up and know what will work for our babies. As I mentioned in my prior post, finding the teether that works best for your baby may require trying a few different ones. Mesh feeders (with crushed ice) and natural rubber toys were my babies’ favorite and most effective teethers. That’s why I am particularly excited about the new Pulp Silicone Teething Feeder by Boon and the adorable Lela the fawn natural rubber toy by Lässig. Another new teether that has been getting great reviews is the Nawgum All-in One Teether, a universal teether designed to manage all areas of the mouth.
Here are my picks for the top new teethers.
Pulp Silicone Teething Feeder
Just like the regular mesh feeders, this silicone feeder is not only an effective way to introduce solids to your baby but it is also a great teether if used with frozen food or crushed ice. What I like the most about a silicone feeder is that it is easier to clean than the traditional mesh feeders. Also, Boon’s silicone feeder has a small handle, which makes it easier for babies to grasp. It is BPA-free, PVC-free and phthalate-free.
The Nawgum is the first and last step to soothing baby’s sore gums throughout the entire teething process: gumming, front and side teeth and back molars (for babies 0-24 months). Nawgum’s design contains four sections: two arms and two bumpers – the arms replicate what most children prefer to gnaw: a finger, and are long enough to reach the molars. These sections are soft and rubbery and contain different textures. The Nawgum is made with food grade silicone, it is nontoxic and BPA-free. And it is dishwasher safe!
Like many other parents and babies, I absolutely love Sophie the Giraffe. So when I was introduced to Lela the fawn – it was love at first sight! It is both adorable and functional. Lela is not only a playmate (that squeaks when squeezed) but it also stimulates baby’s senses and imagination and is a great eco-friendly teether (made of natural rubber and painted with food-safe color). Lässig (a German company that creates functional & beautiful products using uncritical, non-toxic materials) brought Lela to the US market after the huge success of Lela sales in Europe. Lela, welcome to the USA!
The aden + anais new teether consists of a naturally-derived wooden teething ring attached to a 100% cotton muslin sleeve. What a perfect combination: a teething ring made of smooth maple wood that helps calm sore gums and a muslin blankie that provides added comfort for baby. The teether’s handcrafted shapes are inspired by aden + anais signature prints.
Lamaze is known for creating multi-functional toys with a variety of sounds, textures and colors that promote babies’ development. Lamaze’s new teethers, the teethimals featuring Logan the Lion and Mortimer the Moose, are all-in-one rattle and teether with vibrant colors, a flexible textured teething body, crinkle and rattle sounds. This teething toy will entertain and provide great teething relief for your baby!
Gumdrop 3-in-1 Teether
I am a big fan of the First Year’s Gumdrop products and couldn’t wait to learn more about their 3-in-1 teether. This teether has all of the important features of a great teether: it offers a teething solution for the front, middle and back teeth; has a variety of textures; is easy for baby to grasp; and can be chilled for added teething relief. It is made of durable, latex-free silicone and is free of phthalates and BPA.
